Behind The Scenes

Creating my video about thrifting in San Marcos was an adventure filled with creativity, collaboration, and a few learning curves. I wanted to highlight the unique vibe of each store while sharing tips and insights, so the process required planning, preparation, and a touch of spontaneity. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how I brought it all together!

I spent a full day exploring the featured stores: Love Buzz, Old Soul Exchange, and Uptown Cheapskate. Each one offered something unique, from curated vintage pieces to trendy resale finds. I made sure to film everything from the colorful racks of clothes to the intricate details that make each shop special. Walking around with my tripod and setting up shots felt like being a one-person production crew, but the excitement of capturing these gems made it all worth it!

A highlight of the day was getting to know the people behind the stores. I interviewed store owners and employees, who shared their passion for thrifting, sustainability, and building a sense of community. Their stories added depth and personality to the video, giving viewers a glimpse into what makes these stores more than just places to shop. The candid conversations were not only insightful but also fun, as their enthusiasm for second-hand shopping was contagious.

Filming in an active retail environment came with its own set of challenges. Navigating around customers and managing sound in busy spaces required patience and quick adjustments. I also had to balance capturing enough footage at each store while staying on schedule—a tricky task when there’s so much to see! Overall, this project was an incredibly rewarding experience.
